Choosing the right onahole starts with understanding what it is made of, not just the price or scent. The material determines texture, durability, hygiene requirements, and even which lubricants are safe to use.
TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer)
TPE is the most widely used material in the onahole industry. It combines the properties of rubber and plastic, offering strong flexibility and elasticity that closely mimic a skin-like texture. Quality varies significantly between grades, however – lower-cost TPE products tend to stiffen or crack over time.
Silicone
Silicone is a non-porous material, meaning bacteria have a harder time growing inside it, which makes hygiene easier to maintain and increases durability. It generally feels firmer than TPE, making it a better fit for users who prioritize hygiene and longevity over an ultra-soft, lifelike feel.
Lubricant Compatibility
Not every lubricant works safely with every material.
- Water-based lubricants: Safe to use with both TPE and silicone.
- Silicone-based lubricants: Safe for TPE products, but not recommended for silicone products. Silicone-on-silicone contact can degrade the material’s surface.
- Oil-based lubricants: Not recommended for most onahole materials, as they can cause damage.
Storage and Cleaning Tips
After use, rinse the interior with lukewarm water and let it dry completely before storing it in a well-ventilated area. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or hot, humid conditions can cause the material to warp or discolor. Once fully dry, lightly dusting the surface with cornstarch-based powder helps reduce stickiness and extends the product’s lifespan.
Pre-Purchase Checklist
Before buying, check whether the product description clearly states the material (TPE, silicone, etc.), confirms it is free of harmful substances like phthalates, and includes cleaning and storage instructions.
